"And the stars are projectors, yeah, projecting our lives down to this planet Earth." - Modest Mouse

Evil Doers

I had to grab these from Tony Rathbone's The Capitol Blog. Bush being a moron is no revelation to anyone with half a brain, but the wickedness of Cheney is often overlooked. In my mind, just as Bush Sr. was the real power behind the puppet Reagan, Cheney is the wizard pulling Dubya's strings. If you want a good understanding of Cheney's role in American politics and imperialism over the last 20+ years, do some research on the Project for the New American Century, and the document titled Rebuilding America's Defenses. Major contributers to this Pax Americana manifesto include Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Pearle, William Kristol, Jeb Bush, and Colin Powell. This is a plan for global American military dominance that has been underway since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

"We seem to have forgotten the essential elements of the Reagan Administration's success: a military that is strong and ready to meet both present and future challenges; a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad; and national leadership that accepts the United States' global responsibilities.

"Of course, the United States must be prudent in how it exercises its power. But we cannot safely avoid the responsibilities of global leadership or the costs that are associated with its exercise. America has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. If we shirk our responsibilities, we invite challenges to our fundamental interests. The history of the 20th century should have taught us that it is important to shape circumstances before crises emerge, and to meet threats before they become dire. The history of this century should have taught us to embrace the cause of American leadership."

In an age of rapid globalisation the interests guiding the U.S. military-industrial complex are trying to make sure that they come out on top. Unfortunately this plan is predicated on further expansion of the bloated American war machine to crush any opposition. While the publicly-stated goals of this agenda are "peace and democracy for the world", the underlying motive remains plainly obvious: expansion of corporate dominance into emerging markets to maintain growing profit margins. And anyone who gets in our way will have troops on their doorstep.
