The Boston Globe reports that the GOP has been spying on the DNC. No big surprise that the Repubs would be so underhanded, and less of a surprise that the Dems would be so foolish. I mean, it really amazes me just how much of the corruption and incompetence in the current administration is a matter of public knowledge (failure to avoid 9/11, no WMD's in Iraq, Niger yellow cake, Valerie Plame, Cheney's ties to Enron, etc etc...). I keep thinking "Yes! This is the smoking gun. They're all going to jail now!". But while the GOP can destroy a succesful and well-regarded Democratic administration over some Oval Office oral sex, the Democratic party absolutely fails to organize and coordinate an effective attack on BushCo in spite of all the chinks in the GOP armor. Can you imagine how arrogant BushCo must feel, thinking they're pretty much untouchable. Meanwhile the average American is either sucking down the lies pumped out by the cathode nipple, or so cynical & apathetic that they just focus on their own lives and forget about politics.
"WASHINGTON -- Republican staff members of the US Senate Judiciary Commitee infiltrated opposition computer files for a year, monitoring secret strategy memos and periodically passing on copies to the media, Senate officials told The Globe.
"From the spring of 2002 until at least April 2003, members of the GOP committee staff exploited a computer glitch that allowed them to access restricted Democratic communications without a password. Trolling through hundreds of memos, they were able to read talking points and accounts of private meetings discussing which judicial nominees Democrats would fight -- and with what tactics."
